Erotic Review Magazine Photography Competition: Terms & Conditions

The Erotic Photography Award is an international competition, celebrating erotic photography. It is open to all photographers aged 18 and over, from amateur and students to professional photographers.

Rules

  1. Photographers
    1. Must have been 18 years of age or over on 1 January 2008. No one under the age of 18 years old or the minimum required age in your country to access the Erotic Photography Awards or its website or any adult oriented websites may enter this competition. Any winner later found to be under this age limit will be disqualified and their entry fees will be forfeited.
    2. Must submit a body of up to 12 photographs that form a series - either thematically or stylistically - rather than a set of unrelated pictures.
      The judges, drawn from the erotic and photographic art world, will be judging original outlook, accomplished photographic skills, and above all, coherent, technically proficient and exceptional erotic imagery.
    3. Entrants must enter the title of each work (indicating if it is part of a series if relevant) in the caption box provided on the website. The entrant's name must not appear anywhere in the image itself.
    4. Must pay a registration fee of £20.00 for a series of up to 12 images
    5. Must ensure that their completed entry form, fee and photograph(s) are received by deadline Saturday 31st January 2009
    6. Warrants to Erotic Review Books that they own the work submitted; that the whole copyright in the work is vested in them or, if the copyright belongs to a third party such as an agency, that the photographer has the right to submit the work free from encumbrances or restrictions; and that if the work was commissioned for private and domestic purposes it is submitted with the permission of the person who commissioned it.
    7. Warrants that, if their work is selected for publication, they have obtained the appropriate model releases from persons featured in their submitted photographs for all sales, marketing, exhibition and publicity uses, and that no additional releases are required in respect of names, trademarks, designs or works of art depicted in the work. Erotic Review Books Ltd is not responsible for false copyright claims.
    8. Agrees that Erotic Review Books Ltd may reproduce and/or license the reproduction of any entries featured in the Erotic Photography Award without any payment to the photographer, model or any third party for any sales, marketing and publicity use on and in all media worldwide including catalogues, posters, postcards, the Internet and within television documentary relation to the award. However, such free use shall only be in connection with the Erotic Photography Award 2009 and 2010, and where practicable the photographer, and if appropriate the agency, will receive credit for such use. No copyright is transferred to Erotic Review Books in respect of any works entered or accepted.
    9. Agrees that Erotic Review Books Ltd may reproduce at its discretion a selection of any of the top award entries free of any charge in the Erotic Review magazine and annual competition book.
    10. Employees of the Erotic Review Books, judges, consultants and sponsors are not eligible to enter the Award.
  2. Photographs
    1. All models must have been 18 years of age or over on 1 January 2008
    2. Erotic may be interpreted in its widest sense. We have placed only a few restrictions for photographs suitable for publication and that it must represent sexuality of a single person or between consenting adults. We must reiterate that no photographs will be considered that contain reference to minors or animals.
    3. Erotic Photography involves artworks achieved by the means of a digital or traditional film camera. We will accept photographs that have been digitally enhanced. However, the base image must have been photographic.
    4. Up to 12 photographs may be submitted. To ensure that your images are of sufficient quality for reproduction the smallest dimension (height or width) of your file should not normally be less than 2480 pixels, unless for a good reason. For the Erotic Review magazine and annual competition book we need A4 images at 300dpi.
      • If you are submitting by post, before sending off CDs and Payment, you must register on-line first and complete the application form, which needs to be included with your CD and Payment. All applications sent by post must include the fully completed form and entrant's original signature. We accept International Money Order and Bankers Drafts for postal submissions. Please do not send cash.
    5. Photographs must be digitally formatted JPG/JPEG files saved using High Quality (80% compression or Photoshop setting 10) (roughly 1-6mb compressed) with Adobe RGB 1998 embedded profile.
    6. Please supply the photographs in the colour-space in which it is intended to be reproduced. If the photograph you submit is in black and white, we will assume this is how you intended it to be reproduced. If you are not familiar with these terms or do not have digital files of your work, more can be learned at any high quality copy centre or art service bureau, where this digital transaction can be done. Please have the photographs photographed or scanned clearly, it is in your interest to do so, as we want to see your photographs at their best.
    7. Use our on-line entry form to enter the image details, upload your photographs and pay the fees. Once you have submitted your entry and made the payment, you need to print out your completed entry form from the web site.
    8. Entries can be black and white or colour
    9. The following photographs will not be accepted:
      • All work outside of the boundaries of consenting sexuality.
      • Any works that include references to minors or animals.
      • Photographs or Digital files that are corrupted or oversized (in excess of what has been outlined).
    10. Once submitted images may not be changed
  3. Entry Fees
    1. The Erotic Photography Award seeks to reach all photographers around the globe. In an effort to make the competition internationally accessible, we have set the fee at £20 for up to 12 photographs.
    2. Payment receipts and further instructions (where applicable) are automatically emailed to you.
    3. Photographers are allowed to enter the Erotic Photography Award only once; only one account to be created per person.
    4. Payments submitted via post: - Before sending off CDs and Payment, you must register on-line first and complete the application form, which needs to be included with your CD and Payment. All applications sent by post must include the fully completed form and entrants original signature. Please do not send cash.
  4. Voting
    1. The decision of the judges is final and no discussion or correspondence can be entered into.
    2. The judges and/or Erotic Review Books reserve the right to vary the awards
    3. The judges and/or the Erotic Review Books reserve the right to vary the terms and conditions at any time.
    4. The judges reserve the right not to make any award.
    5. The winning photographers will be notified of the judges' decision by email or by post by February 7th 2009. All other entrants will be notified via email by the 12th February. The winner(s) names will be posted on the website on February 14th 2009.
    6. The results of the Public Vote will be announced and posted on the website on February 14th 2009.
  5. Other Conditions
    • Use our on-line entry form to enter the image details, upload your photographs and pay the fees. If applying by post please ensure you register on-line first, as your registration number is required on the application form.
    • All fees are non-refundable.
    • Entrants whose payments cannot be fulfilled will be disqualified.
    • Only on-line digital entries and CDs by postal submissions apply.
    • No communication will be entered into.
    • Whilst Erotic Review Books makes every effort to ensure that Erotic Photography Awards publications and publicity materials are of the highest standard, we are unable to guarantee the quality of reproduction.
    • Erotic Review Books reserves the right to use its own discretion throughout which may include: disqualifying any entry not complying with the rules.
    • There will be no appeal against the decision of the judges and correspondence cannot be entered into regarding the judging.
    • Erotic Review Books reserves the right to change, suspend or discontinue all or any part of the Prize and or related services relating to it, without prior notice. If this occurs we will notify and refund any monies already paid to us for these services only
