Mild-mannered Edwardian clubman Jack, having been jilted by the delicious Miss Alice, plans his exquisite revenge by luring her to his padded cell and fastening her in many different angles using a series of bizarre machinery made to look like ordinary furniture. Having entrapped her using the most cunning of methods, he binds her, strips her and takes a further 57 pages to storm her final citadel, and not before whipping her once and buggering her twice.

Oddly, in spite (or maybe because) of all this, Alice becomes Jack's devoted accomplice and, with her eager assistance, Jack ravishes in turn, Alice's maid, Alice's best friend, a voluptuous (but strangely unwilling) titled lady and her precocious ward. All in all, a period erotic classic, though one politically off the Richter scale.
